Safe Homes
Lancaster County Safe Homes
We all want our children to be healthy and safe from harm. Alcohol, tobacco and other drugs are extremely harmful to young people and possession and use of these substances by minors is against city ordinances. The consequences of use can change the lives of our youth and affect entire families and communities.
The Safe Homes network is a program for families to help keep children safe from alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. The program can be started within school communities, faith communities, neighborhoods or community groups. As a part of the network we will share hints, tips and ideas for parents and families to use in keeping youth healthy. The educational material is taken from years of experience in the prevention field about what works and what doesn’t. Good drug prevention works!
True drug prevention is possible only when all segments of society support and enforce clear consistent no-use messages for children regarding alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and violence. Parents working together to support and encourage one another will make the endless job of building a safe community easier.
Below you will find a copy of the pledge form, which you can fill out, sign and send back to LCAD if you are not already a part of the Safe Homes network. We will add you to the appropriate list.
If you are in Lancaster County and are interested in starting a Safe Homes team, or in joining the team already active in your community contact Teri at LCAD at 475-2694 or email tvosicky@lcad.org for more information. We can plan a training that fits your group’s schedule or put you in touch with an already existing team to share what worked well and tips for starting your group. Safe Homes can be tailored to fit your community’s needs.
